Denied replacement of bad Transmission
jaysauto77To whom this may concern,
I recently purchased a Transmission from “Just Truck and Van” 7/29/09, and installed it on my customers Vehicle. The first time they drove it 8/14/09, it went out on them in the middle of the desert. I removed it on 8/27/09 and brought it in to get an exchange, when I was told the warranty was void due to a filter that was not replaced. I tried explaining to Rick (Salesman), that this is the first time they drove it, and the filter has nothing to do with it going out (Confirmed My response with Mark, a transmission specialist at AAMCO, who agreed).
I spoke with the manager today 8/28/09 and he tried to tell me that I did not put enough fluid in the transmission anyway, (it was brought up that I added 7 quarts of fluid to bring it to its proper level) saying that when you take the pan off the bottom, “all the fluid, with the exception of the torque converter, comes out.” He then said “most transmissions hold 12 to 13 quarts of fluid.” I know from personal experience that none of this was true, and he has the slightest clue about transmissions, so I ended the conversation in the hope of actually talking to someone who is not just trying to get out of a warranty issue, which I believe warranty has nothing to do with a transmission going out the first day it’s driven.
I hope you can help resolve this issue, or at least be reasonable towards what has happened here.
Sincerely,
Jay J. Hackett
