This recycling shop for "kids' stuff with previous experience" buys and sells gently used children's clothing, equipment and furniture.

    Not worth your time!!!

I drove 45 minutes to shop at Once Upon A Child...because I had heard it was so great, etc...I dropped of my used, still in fashion, some new with tags merchandise...and browsed around the store while they looked through it. I decided very quickly not to buy anything. They clothes were all overpriced. You can go online and buy name brand clothes from Old Navy etc...website for the price OUAC was charging! About an hour after looking around they informed me they were ready. Before they told me the total...I asked to know the price of each item. First on the list. Brand new Nike Shocks my daughter had only worn a few times. Their price. $2.50. I grabbed all of my stuff and left without saying another word. A waste of gas and time. You can make more at a yard sale, ebay, or even craigslist. Not to mention the staff is rude and acted as if the customers were an inconvenience to THEM! TWO THUMBS DOWN!!!

Pros:lots of stuff to look at
Cons:overpriced, rude staff, will make more at yardsale!

For buying I think they are high compared to what they give you on consignment. I have stopped bringing things there all together, they have not taken brand new things before.

I have been a customer here for years and have seen good times and bad. It seems that there is a great improvement lately. Things seem to be looking better and the staff is much more friendly. I have noticed some staff changes and it seems like the turn around rate has gotten better. I love the fact that they are so pickey when they take items because that means as a shopper you are getting really good items. I took items there to sell last week and it was done within 35-45 mins and was ready to go before I was done shopping. It was a wonderful experience and I hope it continues!!!

I had thought the reason we generally received less than stellar service was our habit of showing up near the end of the day (we like the next door Amigo's for dinner). However, after reading other comments, I have to agree with them... high prices, poor customer service and lack of follow through. I've not shopped very many of the other consignment shops, so I have no comparison on quality or quantity. They do seem to have a fair amount of items in all sizes and they make an effort to keep the merchandise appropriate to the season. I have had some bad luck with purchases of defective DVD/videos and clothing with non-working fasteners, particularly overalls with snaps. I finally learned to stress-test them first.

Good Deals vs.Rude Employees by Kimberly W. at InsiderPages

I like to SHOP at OUAC. I get good deals on good clothing. But I hate going in the store! When it comes to consigning, it's a different story. I have never encountered such rude tactless employees anywhere. And one ring leader seems to be the cause of it all. I don't know how she got employed unless she owns the place or is related to the owner. I watched her pilfer through items that were brought in like she's going through garbage and the comments she made were less than customer friendly. I left some items there and this same employee told me that someone would call if they were not ready to make a deal within 4 hrs. I called 5 hrs later and was told it would be 45 mins. I went to the store and no one had started going through my items! I returned the following afternoon and was told to wait 20 mins. I waited 1 hour AND 20 mins. Then I was told that a pair of patent leather shoes were too dirty! No one ever apologized for my incovenience. I stood there long enought to hear the same employee tell customers whatever they wanted to hear and retract it as soon as they were out of hearing range. I also heard her tell one lady that if she was not back by 7pm the next day her items would be donated-controversal to whatever the ladysaid she was told over the phone. This employee never said thank you for the items. She acted as if this lady was dropping off her laundry!!! I wonder what would have happened to mine had I not gone back when I did??!! Get rid of her OUAC! She will soon sink your ship!!
