Encouraging your family to increase their recycling habits

Encouraging your family to increase their recycling habits.
Families are always looking for ingenious ways to cut down on waste, so making the process easier on your family members and encouraging sustainability from a young age will go a long way in creating a green home. By making recycling fun for your kids, you can make a lasting impact that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives, and hopefully, they will encourage other people to do the same.

One way to encourage your kids to recycle is by taking some ordinary household objects such as milk cartons and plastic bottles and making a craft project out of them. You can make a bird feeder very easily by with a used soda bottle - simply cut out a U-shaped hole in the side so that the bird seed will have a place to rest and use a long wooden dowel as a perch for birds. Not only will you be putting the product to good use, but it's the perfect activity for a rainy day.

By creating a compost heap in your yard, you can teach your children about the importance of sustainability and how it can impact the environment. This will also make it much easier to separate recyclables from other forms of waste so that your kids aren't needlessly throwing away items when they could be put to good use.

Recycling can also help teach your kids some new skills. For instance, when you're tying up a stack of old newspapers and magazines, give your little one a try at tying some knots. Not only will they be helping out around the house, but you will be teaching them something they can use later in life. Keep a few of these things in mind so your family can enjoy a sustainable household.
